All Parts of Us Deserve Compassion and Care

It is a privilege to collaborate with, empower, and support you throughout your healing journey. I am here to sit with you in your pain, your relief, and everywhere in between. Healing is not a destination. Rather, it is a continual process—one we may deviate from and rediscover repeatedly throughout our lifetime. We can build and expand our tolerance, skillset, awareness, and community support as a way of returning to our joy, comfort, peace, and embodiment with increased ease, patience, and compassion. Despite traumas and stressors, no matter how lost we may feel, we all have the innate and intuitive capacity to transform into our most authentic, liberated, and aligned selves. There are, of course, many barriers to this that are beyond our control—oppressive systems that are likely responsible for many of our deepest wounds. This may cause a sense of helplessness that no amount of therapy can protect us from; however, I aspire to offer soothing through acknowledging the systemic impact on our suffering and exploring ways of accessing hope, without bypassing pain, even on our darkest days. ♥️ I approach therapy with a foundation rooted in "Parts Work", informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. Through this modality, we acknowledge that we all have multiple parts of ourselves that make up our internal system. Our Core Self (our most curious, compassionate, and confident self) may feel unfamiliar and distant to us, but we have the capacity to restore our connection to the self and allow them to lead. Our protective parts, attempting to keep us safe, responsible, and surviving, may use skills that were once reinforced (like people pleasing, perfectionism, avoidance, substance use, shame, etc.) that may no longer serve us. We do not dispose of our parts, but rather we witness and learn to understand them and eventually update their expired roles with something more helpful. Our protectors’ main purpose is to keep our most wounded, exiled parts safe. With our protectors’ cooperation, we can retrieve those hurt and neglected parts from the shadows and offer them love, empathy, unburdening, and repair. Additionally, I offer healing through EMDR—a somatic intervention that helps us reprocess traumatic and stressful events, memories, and beliefs so that we no longer feel stuck or overwhelmed by fear and hypervigilance. This intervention utilizes bilateral (left to right) stimulation to mimic the natural processing that typically happens during R.E.M. sleep—allowing our brain and body to properly store these incidents in the past where they belong and release our present selves of the severe symptoms and internalized negative messages that persist long after the distressing event has concluded. We begin trauma work by orienting to safety, enhancing somatic resources, and practicing ongoing consent. 🌿 With love and respect for queer and trans individuals, I aim to provide a validating space in which you can explore strengths and stressors surrounding your identity, no matter what stage of development you may find yourself in. I offer non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and competent counseling where we can discuss issues such as discrimination, intersectionality, dysmorphia, advocacy, obstacles to care, marginalization, political violence, family, sex, relationships, etc., related to your LGBTQIA+ identity and beyond. 🌻 Currently accepting clients via Telehealth who reside in Pennsylvania & Maryland.
